Dr. Weng's Recent Trip to 24th Annual Great Lakes Kung-Fu and Shuai Chiao Tournament

On April 16, 2016 in Ohio, Dr.Weng was invited as the Tournament Arbitrator and to conduct a National Shuai Chiao Seminar for instructors from all over the country.


Dr.Weng introduced the trend of adopting Kung  Fu techniques as Therapeutic exercise as preventive medicine and alternative medicine field. The next coming up training course has been organized by UEWM, the Head Quarter University of US Collegiate Taiji Federation 
As the result some of seminar attendants are looking into designing curriculum with combination of training Kung Fu techniques as well wellness/healing exercise and concept.

USCTF and UEWM at CMAT UC Berkeley 2016

"UEWM Tai Chi Team captured 3 gold and 5 Silver medals form 24th CMAT at UC Berkeley 3/12/2016" 

Participating in the annual 24th Chinese Martial Art Tournament at UC Berkeley, the UEWM Tai Chi Club Team captured 3 gold and 5 silver medals together. The Club members winning medals are: Dr.Timothy Tin (student of DAO and College of Tai Chi)- two gold medals (Long weapon, and staff); Kino Tseng(TCM)-one gold and one silver medals( Taiji individual and group  event); Shenglan Huang and Ming-lan Kang (TCM)--both won Silver Medals from Taiji group event.
    
Out of more than 400 athletes form all over USA and some foreign countries UEWM Tai Chi Club team has gained fruitful result in a row of three years. Some UEWM students led by Register Officer Anna Yang were at site doing community service  for the event with health consultations and pain releasing massage treatment to many attendants and staff at UC Berkeley(see pictures).

Notes from the Board Meeting, January 29 2016

  1. ~6,000$ in Donations were received since 2012 from Eddie Yuan and Division of Education at TECO plus $500 from the November Taiwan Seminars. Closing the calendar year, the USCTF is in the black, no debts.
  2. Hung-kuang University in Taichung, and Kang-Ning University are inviting USCTF to teach seminars in 2016. Dr. Chi-Hsiu Daniel Weng, Dr. Frank Chang, and Dr. Andy Huang are nominated to go.
  3. Dr. Tze-yue Gigi Hu is in Singapore representing USCTF.
  4. Dr. Timothy Tin and Professor Tatiana Perfilov are reviewing data from Dr. Tin's Cardio Kungfu experiment in Southern California.
  5. USCTF is planning to compete in CMAT24, and help selecting athletes for 2017 Universaide (World University Games) in Taiwan, and go to Rome for International Shuai Jiao Tournament in 2016.
  6. The attendees have voted for the new Board Members for 2016:

Dr. Weng's Trip to Asia 11/25/12/1/2015

A recent trip to Asia by Dr.Chi-hsiu D Weng, Dean of College of Tai Chi has fruitful results:

1)  Meeting with the Chief of Shuaijiao (Chinese Wrestling) in China ,Pang Guaoxing about the !st USA International Shuaijiao Tournament to be held in Silicon Valley 2017 with 15 countries     participating.( Photo #1 a gift of tea set given by Chief Pang in China National Sport Administration Headquarter, Beijing 11/30)


2) Establishing sister school academic exchanging Program with Kang Ning University in Taipei ( Photo #2 group picture with Vice President  and administrators of KNU 11/27).



3) Conducted a successful US Collegiate Taiji Federation  Therapeutic Taiji Instructor's Training Course at Hung-kuang University in Taichung. (Photos of group shot after the course is over 11/29)


Some future projects for 2016 to be taking place include: Training course to be hosted in Taiwan and Inner Mongolia next Spring , and delegations from KNU and HKU visiting UEWM next summer to study some short  courses and certificate program in Therapeutic Taiji.
